"Vans Video by Flech" New York City Premiere Photos
2/21/2023
When one of the main filmers from the FA/Hockey camp makes a video for Vans, you know things are going to get heavy. Still, the newest project from masterlensman Johnathan Flechas surpassed all expectations on Friday night in New York City. Locals poured into Vans’ Space 198 in Brooklyn for a night full of free beer, endless nachos and ripping skateboarding. Between Ben Kadow spinning records and the live set by musical guest Brass Neck, Vans showed how Brooklyn gets down. Scroll through for the memories! —Nathan Hutsenpiller
The massive drop in temperature meant everyone just wanted to get inside, so we see the first mark of any good premiere—a hearty line
Pro tip: When it's brick outside, have your ID ready at the door for the fastest possible entry
Quite the quiver on display with star appearances from the True Religion and White Castle grip jobs
Vans’ recent graffiti makeover was giving us heavy doses of ‘90s nostalgia
The current crop of upcoming rippers, Pablo Goldberg, Zion Elle, Sharlette Fyffe and Elisa Martini
Lio Cerezo, Eli Ritter, Cody Healy-Connelly and Daniel Michalik came prepared
This crew locked down their spots early!
Front and center, best seats in the house
Let's talk about comfort…
Max Palmer matching fits with Enzo
Our first sight of our man of the hour and Flech is fanning out on Ben
Ben K’s DJ set had everything from The Crack to The Stones
Gotta love when your music tastes align with the pros
Canada or NYC, who's got the colder winter? We'll let Etienne and company figure it out
Dean and Rowan catch up before the video begins
Enzo Kurmaskie, Jared Sherbert, and Dick Rizzo hyped for everyone on the big screen
One of the all-time classic combos, free beer and a premiere. The staff killed it and handled the masses like pros
Cami Best, Cass Lopez, Jay Artis, and Moose link up at the libation station
Tristan Mershon attempting to test the limits of Jacob Campbell's jacket, “But it's Gortex.”
J Boy, Cyrus and Liz wouldn't miss Flech's big night in the city
Etienne Gagne, Diego Todd and company moments before the start of the video
And another killer combo, beer and nachos—feeding skateboarders since the beginning of time. Which for us was like the ‘70s or something
This crew knew what they were doing, whipping out trays of nachos every five minutes
Oh, God, what a beautiful sight
Joseph Gil and Effie Liu showing off the goods
Absolute killers behind the lens, Mike Heikkila and famed Upper West Sider Greg Navarro
Finally, the video begins!
Flech and Ben perch up
A packed house and a few jaws on the floor, couldn’t start any better
*Anxiously hits vape*
What do you know?! Everyone loved it!
Quick confirmation from the crew, Elisa Martini, Cass Lopez, Abi Teixeira, and James Wells were all hyped on the vid
Nobody seemed to know what band would be playing, but when John Franco stepped up and grabbed the guitar, you only had two options: duck and cover or cut it up
Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Francomacaro
Rowan had to step up to document the Brass Neck for himself
Bassist, Dean Arauz channeling the vert wall behind him
Brass Neck in full effect
Quick moment to wet the whistle between songs
What's a show without a pit?
And just as swift as he appeared, the shirtless rock star ushered the sweaty fans out into the freezing cold
Now we gotta run to the train. Huge congratulations to Flech for making such an amazing video. Judging by the reaction from everyone in the crowd, you knocked this one out of the park. Big thanks to Vans for putting on such a radical night and get another watch of that epic feature on all Thrasher channels now!
